Races

Varsity 17/04/10

Not going to comment on the races, other than some very questionable rigging we found when fixing boats the following day. Enjoy the only video you can see clearly, the rest were a bit far out in the dam and a bit shakey.

Yorkshire Head 13/03/10

Four 4+ at yorkshire head, one from each squad. The senior men coming fourth out of 13 with the novices only a minute behind. A bit of controversy as the novice women out powered the seniors to beat them by a minute, well done to Jo who continued to race with a broken rigger.

Yorkshire Uni Indoors7/03/10

3 gold medals and various more of other colours, RESULT!!!. Race report at: http://www.britishrowing.org/news/yorkshire-universities-indoor-rowing-championships.

South Yorkshire Head 13/02/10

Following all the cancelled races this year due to adverse weather we finally got out on the water and recorded a win for the senior mens 4+. We also had our novice debut showing their fighting spirting performing well during their first ever race.

Doncaster Regatta 23/05/09

BUCS Regatta 02-03/05/09

Varsity 29/03/09

North of England Head 14/03/09

With BUCS points on offer we descended on a windy chester with our eights. Women pushing hard, beating uni and getting some bucs points too, despite no cox box and DG with a sore voice. Men then racing a scratch 8, going well against other status crews, but no points this time.

Yorkshire Head 07/03/09

First race of 2009 following cancellations at Boston and BUCS, and a first race ever for the novice fours. The women's quad dominating and winning, the men's quad showing promise with no training, only beaten by a nippy York 4x. Novice girls coming down smoothly, knowing how much more they can give in the race and a gutsy performance from the novice boys coming down at such a high rate over 5k, with tired arms coming to the line, impressive for a first race over 5k.

York Small Boats Head 23/11/08

Big congrats to everyone for the first race of the new academic year. A chance to play with crews and see how we faired. Strong performances by all with the 4x and 2- finishing high, Novice 4 doing well with some unfortunate incidences, it was the other crews fault guys. Lets try and forget the broken 4-, and well done to Em and Luce in their first sculling race, improving every outing.

Gloucester 24/08/08 and Ross 25/08/08

Lots of rowing under the influence in scratch crews, a weekend of fun for a few of our scullers. With a late drop out by gunsa our mens 4x became mixed, and in a boat with suspicious rigging a good performance coming second (although we did get a by to the final). Good rows by the girls double, and Tracey just missing out in the final of her scull.

After lots of drinking that night in ross, the mens double had an early start, only to have a footplate come out half way through, we may has well stayed in bed. The mixed quad also had fun with a great performance to finish the long weekend.

Bewdley Regatta 26-27/07/08

Just 3 hallam rowers here, in a composite 4x with gloucester. On saturday missing out by less than a foot, following some changes in rigging massive improvements made and just coming second again, despite being up another category in S2. Winning throughout both races, just to loose it in the last 50m, and damaging the rudder on the shallows coming over the line on sunday (can we blame that for the loss?). Overall not bad for a scratch crew that was struggling from the previous night.

Peterborough spring regatta 07/06/08

The final regatta of the term was certainly a fun weekend from all, with great performances in all events, with mens and womens quads, fours and womens double doing well in their heats. Special mention to the mens singles, Johny making the semis and James coming 3rd in the final. Big thanks to Luke and Emily who successful arranged us all getting drunk on the campsite, with luke living up to his nickname - naturist!
